Monkey Assets ("the app") is the mobile companion to the Monkey Assets asset register at monkeyassets.net. It lets people in your organisation sign in to that service, scan asset QR labels, and view or update the assets your organisation records there.
What the app collects
The app itself adds no tracking. It stores and transmits only what's needed to work with your organisation's asset register:
- Your account — you sign in with the email address and password of your existing Monkey Assets account. The app receives an access token and your name, email, role, and organisation name so it can show who is signed in.
- Asset records — asset details you view or enter (names, models, serial numbers, locations, notes and similar) are sent to and stored by the Monkey Assets service, in your organisation's own register.
- Photos and files — if you photograph an asset or attach an image, that file is uploaded to your organisation's register and stored there. The app only accesses the specific photos you choose; it is not granted access to your whole photo library.
The app contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking software, and it talks only to the Monkey Assets service over encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
Camera
The camera is used for two things only: scanning asset QR labels, and taking photos you choose to attach to an asset. No imagery is captured or sent anywhere without your action.
Face ID
You can optionally turn on Face ID (or Touch ID) to unlock the app. The check happens entirely on your device using Apple's system service — the app never sees or stores your biometric data, and your sign-in token is kept in the device's secure keychain.
Where your data lives
Asset data belongs to your organisation and is stored by the Monkey Assets service. Access is limited to your organisation's own users according to the roles your administrator sets. Signing out of the app revokes that device's access token. Your administrator can also revoke a device's access at any time from the web portal.
Children's privacy
The app is a business tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "Last updated" date.
