Carer Track
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
Carer Track helps carers and families track a person's support hours against their
allocation. We built it to keep that information yours: it lives on your device and, only if you
turn on the sharing features, in your own iCloud. We don't run our own servers, we can't see
analytics about you, and we never sell your data.
What we store, and where
- On your device: the people you support (their name and support allocation),
the care sessions and top-ups you log, your carers (their name and, if you add one, a photo),
and — if you lock a display into kiosk mode — a PIN, which is saved only as a scrambled hash,
never as the digits you typed.
- In your iCloud (Apple CloudKit): if you use the shared display or multi-carer
features described below, some care information is stored in your iCloud account through Apple's
CloudKit. It stays within Apple's service, governed by Apple's iCloud terms.
Sharing a display and combining carers' hours
Two optional features use Apple's CloudKit so more than one device can see the same information:
- A client's display. To show a person's remaining hours on their own iPad, and
to combine hours when several carers support one person, the app stores — in a shared record
identified by a long, random pairing code — that person's first name, their care
sessions and allocation, and the name and photo of the carer currently on shift. Free-text notes
are removed before anything is shared.
- The pairing code is the key. Anyone who has a person's pairing code can view
that person's balance — that's how a paired display works. Treat the code like a password and
share it only with people who should see that information. You can stop sharing at any time by
deleting the client (choosing "Delete Everywhere"), which removes the shared record.
- A private backup. So a new device can restore your set-up, a copy of your own
data is kept in your private iCloud database. That sits in your Apple account and is not
visible to us.
What we don't do
- No accounts, logins, or passwords.
- No advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking or SDKs.
- We operate no servers of our own. The only cloud involved is Apple's iCloud/CloudKit, used with
your own Apple ID.
- We never sell, rent, or trade your information, and we don't share it with anyone.
Camera and photos
The camera is used for one thing only: scanning a pairing QR code to link a display. If you add a
carer's photo, you pick it with the system photo picker and the app keeps a small thumbnail of just
that image — it is not given access to your photo library.
Children's privacy
Carer Track is a tool for carers and families, not a product directed at children, and it does not
knowingly collect information from children. The names of the people being supported are entered by
the carer or family member using the app.
